Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Here’s a little about me. I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Texas. I received my doctorate in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University (2009), master’s from New York University (2004), and bachelor’s from Duke University (2001). Under my birth name, I wrote my dissertation on LGB minority stress and resilience. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center, and my post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Texas at San Antonio Counseling Service. I worked in university mental health before opening my private practice in 2015. In 2022, I became certified as a Queer & Trans Affirming Provider (QTAP).
As a queer, transmasculine nonbinary person myself, I have an intimate understanding of the struggles faced by people who exist outside of the cis-heteronormative mandate. I know what it’s like to experience homophobia and transphobia at a doctor’s office as a patient. It sucks and can even be traumatizing! I specialize in LGBTQI mental health because there is such a jarring need for affirmative and knowledgeable providers! With that said, I enjoy working with all sorts of people who bring all sorts of things into therapy.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time spoiling my 3 cats and 2 dogs. Fun facts about that: four of our animals are rescues and one of our cats is 24 years-old! Like, she was born in 1998. She just keeps on truckin.’ Anyway, I also like to write about my interests, build stuff out of Lego, exercise in my COVID-inspired home gym, get tattooed, and go junktiquing. I’m a recovering Southern Baptist, so personal authenticity and self-expression are guiding principles in my life. I’m really into podcasts, too, and am always open for a good recommendation!
So that’s me in a professionally appropriate nutshell. See below for my favorite person on the planet, who is also my office coordinator.
